北京时间12月30日，来自知名记者雅各布斯（Ben Jacobs）的确认，44岁的苏格兰少帅尼克-蒙哥马利，即将出任中超豪门北京国安主帅，预计正式协议在48小时内签署。
此前，国安已经解雇了西班牙名帅塞蒂恩，而率队夺得足协杯冠军的救火主帅拉米罗，也已经官宣离任。随着蒙哥马利上任，国安将继续沿用聘请欧洲外教的路线。
1981年10月28日出生的蒙哥马利，球员时代曾效力过英格兰老牌劲旅谢菲尔德联队，与国足名宿孙继海当过队友。
退役后他曾执教过澳超球队中央海岸水手，并且率队在2022-23赛季夺得澳超联赛冠军。蒙哥马利还曾辅佐过澳大利亚名帅波斯特科格鲁，在热刺、诺丁汉森林担任助理教练，并且帮助热刺问鼎上赛季的欧联杯冠军。
而如果蒙哥马利接掌国安，再加上留任的海港主帅穆斯卡特，以及分别执教浙江队和成都蓉城的阿洛伊西兄弟，新赛季中超，至少将有4位来自澳超的冠军教头。
显然穆斯卡特在海港的成功，让中超诸强纷纷效仿，掀起了一股“澳超”风暴。
